His contemporary opera roles include Second Attendant A Full Moon in March John Harbison with the Lontano Ensemble, Adam The Diaries of Adam and Eve Josiah Moore at the Grimeborn Festival, Demetrius Dream MacKenzie-Thurley (an adaption of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Purcell’s Fairy Queen) Odysseus, Paris, Goddess and Soldier In the Belly of a Horse Rachel Leach for English Touring Opera, and he sang in a Public Masterclass with Mark Anthony Turnage for Opera North.


Edward Lee has a busy concert diary. Works performed include Tenor-Solo Les Noces Stravinsky at LSO St. Luke’s and touring France including Auditorium Saint-Germain, Paris and Opera de Rouen, Mozart’s Requiem with The London Mozart Players, Haydn’s Creation under Sir David Willcocks, Handel’s Messiah, and Evangelist Johanesspassion Bach with Cantus Tremonia in Gladbeck, Köln and Dortmund. He has also appeared in recital in the UK, Hong Kong and Bangkok, and he was a Guest-Soloist for a New Year Opera Gala Tour of China with the Orchestra of St. Paul’s, Covent Garden.


He sang Filch The Beggar’s Opera Britten for European Opera Centre and The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and he was a Buxton Festival Young Artist 2013, singing Podesta La Finta Giardiniera Mozart.


Edward was broadcasted live on Arte TV singing Mikhail in Laika the Spacedog by Russell Hepplewhite at Szeged National Theater, Hungary, which was subsequenty revived at Avignon Grand Opera, France.


He was a full-time principal artist at Theater Pforzheim 2013-2015, where his roles included Zsupán Gräfin Mariza Kálmán; Andres, Cochenille, Pitichinaccio, Frantz Les Contes D'Hoffman Offenbach, Steppke Frau Luna Lincke, Pedrillo Die Entführung aus dem Serail Mozart, Tenor Solo Carmina Burana Orff, Freddy My Fair Lady Loewe, and Anthony Sweeney Todd Sondheim.


Edward stars as Harry Benn on Retrospective Opera’s debut CD The Boatswain's Mate by Ethel Smyth conducted by Odalinde de la Martinez which was released in August, and won Opera Magazine’s CD of the Month October 2016.


He recently sang Pedrillo and Motel at Theater Aachen, Milo Milo, Maya und die Reise um die Welt Matteo Franceschini at Theater Magdeburg, and Tony Westside Story at Theater Lübeck. In August 2016 Edward became a full-time principal artist at Musiktheater im Revier, Gelsenkirchen, where his roles include Andres, Cochenille, Pitichinaccio, Frantz Les Contes D'Hoffman, Monostatos Die Zauberflöte, Pilatus Jesus Christ Superstar Capito Mathis der Maler Hindemidth and L'Aumônier Dialogues des Carmélites Poulenc.


Edward joined the Landesbuehnen Sachsen in August 2018 as a full-time principal artist, and he began a colaboration with Ronny Heinrich und sein Orchester, performing concerts in and around Berlin, including at the world renowned Berliner Philharmonie.

Edward will begin the 2020/2021 Season by making his Austrian debut at the acclaimed Tiroler Landestheater Innbruck as Váňa Kudrjaš in the new production of Janáček's Káťa Kabanová in November... see the Calendar section for more details...


Edward Lee was born in 1985 in England. He obtained his Bmus (Hons) and MMus with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London and was a Finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary for Young Singers.


He appeared as Spoletta Tosca and Dritte Diener Capriccio for Grange Park Opera and Don Ottavio Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Beppe I Pagliacci for the award winning Opera Up Close. He has worked with British Youth Opera, Aldeburgh Festival, English Touring Opera and Buxton Festival.
